CBS The Centre for Bariatric Surgery

The surgeons at the CBS are among the most experienced in Australia and worldwide. The Clinic is led by Professor Paul O’Brien who began doing gastric bypass and other stapling procedures in 1980, and has been a world leader of the clinical and research development of the Lap-Band since 1994. All surgeons at CBS have worked together for more than 12 years and have a total experience of helping over 10,000 patients. Because of our customised follow-up protocols and our commitment to strong aftercare, we have very good knowledge of the patients’ weight loss and long-term health outcomes. We are very proud of our excellent outcomes, and have published these as a part of our extensive contributions to the medical literature.
